Ternat Elections: May HAVVKZ be the right choice for you?

The elections being soon, another of the participants faced our interview series. With that, we try to help you doing the best decision in the elections. We other two will be linked below, so you can compare them. But let's start right away!

As usual, we asked a few questions about his private life and a few about his plans as a potential mayor.

Read his answers here:

First about you: Why did you decide to participate in the elections?

I grew up in a small village in western Norway and I’ve lived there for my entire life, I’ve never been much of a traveler either. When I finally took the step of moving out of my safe little bubble to Ternat that was a scary time for me. Now that I’m settled in, I’ve experienced nothing but kindness from the Ternations and now I want to give back to them.

Tell us the most important thing about your personality.

I got to the position of Yellow Hill Regional Manager because I am a doer. When my boss wants something to be done, I find a way to do it. I also come from a worker background so I can relate to the struggles of most people.

What would you consider as the most important thing that has to be done in Ternat?

I think keeping our heritage is the most important for Ternat. The old market needs some love, but my priority is the old fortress as we are getting closer and closer to the day where it’s beyond fixing. There are many other important issues to fix, many that I did not even mention in my election points, but our heritage is what makes Ternat what it is.

Building a football pitch is a wish that exists as long as Ternat itself. Some people complained that your plans are way too big and could destroy the landscape. What would you say to that?

I’ve seen the complaints regarding my stadium plans, and I agree. Ternat does not need such a big stadium. My plans were simply just an illustration and not even in a pre-planning part of the project.

One of your plans is to build a ferry stop. Why not invest in other public transport like busses or trains which are way cheaper and carry more people?

We already have a train connection to Bergburg and building a new track to St. Peter would be very expensive. A ferry service can reach all our neighbor villages/towns and in a very cost-efficient manner. The initial investment is higher than some other alternatives, but the operating cost is much lower. As for the buses, my goal is to get vehicles off the roads and a mode of transport that doesn’t use roads is more efficient in this than one that does.

You want to turn the old fortress into a museum and a place for events. How can we assure that it will remain like that and the construction of a museum and the event-technology won't destroy the fortress?

The facade of the fortress will be rebuilt and restored, but some modernization will be done to the interior to make it safe and user-friendly. This is a big investment and so we need to make it a long-term investment that most people can enjoy.

Addressing the tree problem is a big task. Is there even enough space to rebuild every that's cut down?

My policy might be a big task, but a necessary one. Trees can be built into projects or we can reserve land earmarked for planting trees. Just look at the Dutch Park for example, after some environmental concerns were raised, the developer went back to the project and included more greenery.

If companies decide to pay the fee of 100sk/tree, in which way will this money be used?

I don’t have a specific goal for this money, so I’m willing to listen to suggestions. But for now, it will just go to the city’s budget, there are a lot of issues that need solving and these issues are often dynamic of nature so it’s important to be flexible and not tie all money down for a specific project.

Where can we find more information?

I’ve uploaded a pdf-file in the elections Discord channel. If there’s something not written there, people are more than welcome to send me a DM and I’ll answer the best I can.

Give us three short reasons why the people should vote for you?

I am a doer and I have the history to prove it, I’m a very cooperative person, and last but not least because I love Ternat and its citizens.

Do you have anything left to say to the population of Ternat?

If you want something done in Ternat you have to show up for the election. We have four good candidates with slightly different approaches to the candidacy so I think you are in good hands regardless of the result, but sitting home on your sofa and complaining will not improve Ternat in any way.

Interesting, wasn't it? Do you already know who you're gonna vote for? Or did you already vote? If not, make sure to read the linked posts down below.
